Located in Santa Cruz County, Amado, Arizona is primarily rural ranch land. At one time it was a “Halfway Station” within a stagecoach route from Nogales to Arivaca to Tucson. It’s a great place to stay while you explore the Santa Rita Mountains and Santa Cruz Valley.

The Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory is another popular attraction, boasting several telescopes including the 6.5 meter mirror telescope, and is a joint facility operated with the University of Arizona.
